In the 14th Chapter of John we see Jesus with his disciples just hours before he was dragged away to be mocked, beaten and crucified.
Sensing his disciples’ troubled spirits he spoke these words to comfort them…
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.” - John 14:1-2
Places are important to us, our memories are attached to them. But what really makes the place special is the people we remember with that place.
When Jesus told his disciples that he was going to prepare a place for them, he added: “And you know the way to that place.”
I’m sure that all of the disciples were a bit puzzled, and even frustrated by Jesus’ words, but only Thomas verbalized his frustration. He said: “Lord, we don’t even know where you’re going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered in those immortal words:
If you’re looking for a place where you can find Peace and Rest and Joy, the answer is in a person, and His name is Jesus Christ.
Seek Him and you’ll never have to look anywhere else.
We encourage you to join us for corporate prayer on Tuesday Mornings at 7:00AM in the Sanctuary at the Bangor campus. There is power in praying together.
